For the third year in a row, Martin Health System has been recognized as a Most Wired Hospital by Hospitals and Health Networks. The annual Most Wired Survey is an industry-standard benchmark study designed to measure the level of IT adoption in U.S. hospitals and health systems. It has become a useful tool for hospital and health system leadership to map their IT strategic plans.
Most Wired hospitals must meet a set of rigorous criteria across four operational categories: infrastructure, business and administrative management, clinical quality and safety, and clinical integration. Martin Health is one of just 20 hospitals in Florida to receive the national recognition.
“Martin Health takes pride in embracing leading-edge information technology that promotes our commitment to high-quality patient care,” said Ed Collins, vice president and chief information officer for Martin Health System. “Integrating these technologies into our daily operations provides a more patient-friendly experience and increases efficiency and effectiveness throughout the entire health system.”
“The Most Wired data show that shared health information allows clinicians and patients to have the information they need to promote health and make the most informed decisions about treatments,” says Rich Umbdenstock, president and CEO of the American Hospital Association. “Hospitals, their clinicians and their communities are doing tremendous work to enhance their IT systems in ways that support care and delivery improvement, and patient engagement goals.”
This year marks the 16th anniversary of Health Care’s Most Wired Survey. The July Hospitals and Health Networks cover story detailing results is available at www.hhnmag.com.
